Before we start any project planning we always ask the client if they have any plans of the house. This is usually to get us started, and sometimes can save us the time of having to go in and take measurements ourselves (and saves the client money!). Usually the client either does not have any plans or they have an old set, but never before have I seen anything like this! These are original blueprints to the house from 1928! That's 83 years old! That's nearly an antique! I found these drawings so incredibly interesting. The technology has certainly come along way in the past 83 years. It's one thing to have to create a set of plans by hand, but what a luxury it is to be able to make copies for contractors, designers, home owners, builders, etc. Imagine having to create multiple sets of these plans by hand! What an art this is! I also find it very interesting that all of the rules of architecture and design are consistent with these plans just as they are today. Attached are a few of the plans and detail drawings that I photographed from the full set.
This is the "new" plan from 1947 when they renovated the kitchen! Hah!
